News
May 1st, 2018 - We are currently in the process of finalizing a concert in June. The plan is to share a concert with the newly-formed Broad View Elementary Marimba Band, so we'll play half a program and then play a piece with the marimba band. We're shooting for Sunday, June 3rd at 3pm at Click Music. We will give a new update once we've confirmed that.
Also, this website was in severe need of some updates, so you can see updated profiles on the "About" page, as well as some upcoming events added. Also, new pictures and recordings from our performance at the Northwest Horn Workshop has been added.

February 16th, 2018 - We are performing at the Northwest Horn Society Symposium at Pacific Lutheran University on March 24th! We are in the schedule, and will perform at 10am! This is a very exciting opportunity for us, because we are performing for quite a large community of horn players in this region! This is one of the goals we had always had when forming this group: to make appearances at Horn Symposia. And, we get to promote our high school players more, which is great, since they will get a good taste of the real world, and get to perform for prospective college professors!
Our program will include Wagner's "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" from Lohengrin, Bruckner's Trösterin Musik, Müller's Waldlied, Dauprat's 4 Sextet (No. 1), and Gabrieli's Benedixisti Domine. It's quite a nice and diverse program that can really show off our strengths, but isn't too difficult for us. We will definitely record our performance and share with you.

December 4th, 2017 - Our Fall/Winter concert date is set! We will perform on Saturday, December 16th at 6:30pm at Click Music Store in Oak Harbor. Admission will be $10 suggested donation, and all of your donations will go towards the WIHC's ability to purchase sheet music and other resources.
Our repertoire for this concert will include Tcherepnin's 6 Quartets, Lowell Shaws Frippery No. 6, Brahms' 5 Quartets, and an arrangement from Wagner's Tannhauser by Max Pottag. We will also play some Christmas music, most of which arranged by WIHC director Sean Brown. We hope to get a good crowd! We will post videos of our concert in case you are unable to attend.

July 10th, 2017 - We have an extremely busy month of July! We have already performed at one event, the Baby Island/Saratoga Club's Rummage Sale in Langley, WA. It was a great performance in the sun and they were all quite receptive of our music! Photos from our performance on the "Photos" page.
We have 4 more performances coming up in July: First of all, we will perform at the Tilth Farmer's Market this Sunday, on July 16th, starting at 11am. If you don't know where that is, it is along Highway 20 between Freeland and Bayview off of Thompson Rd. Look for the flags and tents! On the July 22nd, we will make an appearance just down the road from there at the Bayview Farmer's Market, starting also at 11am. Both of which are great opportunities to hear us play and even meet and talk with us. In addition, we will perform for the students at the first-ever Whidbey Island Brass Camp, located at Click Music in Oak Harbor. Although intended to be just for the students and their families, this is a free concert in a music store, so technically anyone can come at listen. That will be on July 20th at 4pm. And finally, we will perform at the Whidbey Island Community Orchestra's Picnic on July 30th. This is more of a private function for the orchestra members and their families.
So as you can see, the WIHC is very busy this month! We like being busy, so if you're local and have an opportunity for us to play, please don't hesitate to contact us.

If you hear us, come on by and say hello!

Feb. 22nd, 2017 - We are currently figuring out the date of our next full performance for the public, but in the meantime, we are set to play for the Baby Island-Saratoga Club in Langley, WA on March 10th. Although this is more of a private event, we feel like we should keep you all up to speed on our happenings!
And in addition to these two upcoming performances, we are planning on making appearances at local Farmer's Markets! So, you can hear us perform outdoors in the midst of a busy market. Also, we are always on the hunt for performance opportunities (schedule permitting) so let us know!

Jan. 27th, 2017 - After some time off, the WIHC is back up and running again. We had our first rehearsal of 2017 last Sunday on the 22nd. Although we didn't have all the members present, we read through some new music, and have concluded that we would like to have another full concert in June of 2017. We will likely be programming Eric Ewazen's "Legend of the Sleeping Bear", recordings of which you can hear by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page. Other pieces we may play are Perrini's "Festival Fanfare", John Williams' "Hogwarts Forever", and Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel" Chorale.
Also, if you would like to hear our last concert, recordings are up on the "Hear the WIHC" page of the entire concert! Just click on the piece you'd like to hear and it will begin playing. We're very happy to share these with you!

Since our beginning back in June, we have built ourselves up to a total of 11 members, and are currently working on preparing a program for our upcoming concert on December 20th at Click Music at 6:30pm. The concert will have a "suggested donation" amount for admission, the amount of which will be determined soon. Information about the concert program is currently on the "Hear the WIHC" page. So far, we have had two very good rehearsals, and we are already very excited to perform for everyone. And we haven't even gotten to the Christmas music that we plan on adding to the program yet...
